Cultural landmarks are becoming increasingly popular venues as event planners look for more built-in ambiance than what the “empty box” spaces typical of hotels and conference centres have to offer. They also know that the distinctive ambiance of cultural spaces speaks volumes about their businesses and organizations.

But landmark sites can come with the challenge of integrating an often-atypical layout into an event plan.

Rather than seeing this as a limitation, Artscape’s Fund Development Department leveraged the unusual floor plan of Artscape Youngplace, our century-old former school, to inspire the theme of annual creative black-tie gala, Artscape Extravaganza.

Artscape Extravaganza: Hall Pass

The first annual Artscape Extravaganza: Hall Pass treated tuxedo-clad guests to a back-to-school adventure—a party in the halls with no detention that raised $375,000 the Artscape Youngplace capital campaign. We wouldn’t have been able to achieve this goal without our Hall Pass sponsors URBANCORP, THE DALTON COMPANY LTD., Alterna Savings and BMO Financial Group.

Extravaganza took advantage of the unique layout of Artscape Youngplace to create an event unlike any other this city had seen.

Best of Luxury with Grand Touring at Artscape Wychwood Barns

On May 16, 2013, Artscape Wychwood Barns welcomed 700 lucky guests by-invitation-only for Grand Touring Automobiles’ Best of Luxury event. Parked inside and outside the building were 19 luxury (and super-luxury) models, including the 2013 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, which recently set the record as the world’s fastest convertible.

Salon: An Evening with Artscape

We’re thrilled to announce the success of Salon: An Evening with Artscape, an event in support of the Artscape Foundation and in celebration of Artscape’s 25th Anniversary. Presented by BMO Financial Group and Norton Rose, the evening was attended by 150 guests (tickets sold out over a week before the event!) and featured food by some of the city’s top restaurants and speakers from Toronto’s art world. Guests loved the atmosphere created by the Event Services team in the Covered Street Barn at Artscape Wychwood Barns.
