Artscape-148

It’s hard to believe it’s only been four months since Daniels Spectrum opened its doors as the new cultural hub in Regent Park. People from all over the city have flocked to the building for art exhibitions, film screenings, concerts, dance and poetry festivals, fundraisers, meetings, speaker series, conferences and private events. It seems like there’s always something going on!

We’ve put together a collection of some of the most popular events from Daniels Spectrum’s opening season. Check out photos, recaps and reviews from events like the Manifesto Festival, Ideas Worth Rhyming, Flash Forward, World Food Day and the Toronto Urban Dance Symposium and see which notable music and film personalities have stopped by to visit!

Yogathon for Unity

Congrats to Only Now Exists on their successful Yogathon for Unity event at Artscape Wychwood Barns on Saturday, July 7, 2012! They raised over $8500 for a school for disadvantaged children in Nigeria. From organizer Dr. Shira Taylor:

It was wonderful to bring new people to the Barns as well as to share the event with some of its long-standing residents and community members. I can’t even count the number of participants who commented on how much they loved the space!

Thanks to everyone who came out! If you’re interested in doing yoga at the Barns, feel free to bring a mat in during public hours or come to a Covered Street Yoga session—we announce new dates on Facebook,Twitter and our events page.
